We’re always looking for wonderful stories to escape to in times of travel, stress, or relaxation. I recently finished one of the best books I have ever read! It came into my life at a very necessary time to realize and remember things we often forget in this world full of distractions.
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers is a retelling of the biblical story of Gorner and Hosea set during the California Gold Rush in the 1850s- a time when women were prone to sell their bodies for a place to sleep, men sold their souls for gold, and communication was only seen, not typed.
In this beautiful romantic tale, Rivers uses a beautiful woman named Angel to emphasize factors that are so important to remember as we all go through our life struggles, quest for our future and most importantly search for love.
It is ultimately an allegory about Christ’s unrelenting love for us. Even if we do not pursue Him, He continues to pursue us. His love for us is unremitting, undying, and completely unfailing.
It’s hard not to tell you what I love most about this story without giving away the story line, but I will give you some of the most important lessons I learned and some of my favorite concepts that are essential to live the way God planned us to live it.
Seek God’s heart in everything we do.
When we are unsure if something is right or wrong- stop and take a second to listen to His voice.
God puts us through situations that we question. They might be horrible, awful, unforgettable, but He never fails to have a reason for that and a plan for you to see it through. He does it all for the good of those who love Him. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
Never lose faith in those who don’t believe because then we are also losing faith in God’s work.
God’s love is 100% unconditional, it’s perfect, but only until you give yourself to Him and surrender to His tender care will you feel and see that.
True love is real. We all seek that one person to complete us, but often allow that person to come before what’s most important. God’s love must come first. No one must come before Him. Together you must seek His love more and more each day.
These are daily reminders for myself. It was something I enjoyed and will most likely read again! I hope that you get to pick this book up soon, or even again! Please let me know if you do!!
This book really opened my eyes to parts of life I wasn’t aware of. It opened my eyes to works of God that I knew He was capab
le of, but I never really imagine it in real life. Even though it is based in the 1850s, it is a beautiful read that pertains to all times and places of life.
Thank you for taking your precious moments to read this! I hope you enjoy the book, and have a very lovely day!!
